Sunday Ice breaker trip

Post by Greenhorn »

Well, I couldn't take it any more and I had to take the boat out this past Sunday. I arrived at the Converse Bay launch around 9:00AM hoping for a bit warmer air temperature to launch in. There were five other trailers in the parking lot, so I am not the only one with cabin fever. The boat was reluctant to start. I had to put a hand warmer next to the fuel filter to get things moving. Finally, the boat started and we were off into the icy bay. The water temperature was only 33.8 degrees :? We started off great catching our first salmon after about 10 minutes of trolling on a pink yo-zuri pin minnow with two colors of lead core out. The rest of the day was slow for us as we only managed to go 2 for 6 over the next four hours. It was great to get out again, but I am looking forward to fishing in water a bit warmer.
