Black Ghost Scores 19 on Superbowl Sunday

Post by Black Ghost (Ken) »

Cousin Jeff and I launched early this morning out of Converse. I half thought about cancelling this morning at 0430 when I checked the wind. We're glad we went for it. 19 landed with lots of action in between. Lost some gear (dodgers, cheaters, and of course flies), as sometimes happens on windy days with good bite. But it was worth it, although it was frustrating to lose 5 fish in a row with broken stuff and with nothing left in the water. But that makes exciting fishing.

Nobody out there with us today as we worked the north end of Split Rock. The wind was a little challenging as we'd clear Whallons but thats where we got the best bite.

Mostly 35 to 45 deep. Lots of lead core action.

Biggest fish was just short of 24" and as fat as I've seen one at that length. Stayed 1 shy of bag limit for most of day until we decided to head in on the next fattie.

Nice job guys you did better then the Patriots did in the first half of the Big Game. Salmon out of that cold water will be mighty tasty.

Hi Mark, I should have sent you an invite last night but at that time I was still on the fence about going.

Thanks for the consideration Ken. I've been at work though since Friday. Good job on those fish.

Ken, you played your own Superbowl and make great touchdowns. Nice pics.
