4/21/2017 hit another little pond this morning with wayne with better results. very windy so windy in fact we kept looking up at the trees above us. air temp. was 41 degrees and very cloudy with light rain off and on. wayne is fishing with dillies with egg sinkers on bottom. i had one set up that way and the other with a bobber and 2 hooks tipped with dillies. 7:45 am wayne gets the ist hit and lands a 12 inch brown. then at 8:50 am wayne has another hit and lands a nice chunky brown. im still without a hit until 9:30 am i have a run that is peeling off line very fast and when i closed the bait and set the hook lightly a gust of wind put a big bow in my line and out came the hook out of the fish. ugh! then at 10 am i have another hit and i land a 9 inch brookie. then at 10:20 am wayne has a hit and lands a 11 inch brookie. at 11 am i land a small bullhead. ugh! 11 15 am i have another hit and fish on but got loose half way in. no more hit and we left at 1 pm. the bobber set up had no hits at all. here is wayne with one of his browns which were going home for dinner.

4/24/2017 bushwhacked back in a trout pond today for brookies. air temperature was 35 degrees so iwas hoping the pond was ice free at last . after a 25 minute hike i started fishing at 7:10 am . both rods were set up on bottom with dillies. 7:40 am ist run and a pretty good one but a miss and robbed the dillie. then about 5 minutes later had a bite not a run on the other rod i knew what that was a bullhead and i landed it. then time went by and 9 :10 am i get a decent run and i land a 8 or 9 inch brookie. ist one this year in a adirondack pond. the ice just went out in most of these ponds. then in about 10 minutes i land another bullhead. then another on the other rod. ugh! then nothing until i got ready to leave i have a decent run and land another 8 or 9 inch brookie. one more bullhead and i was heading home . it was sunny but a little north wind kept it chilly . got to warm up a little for the trout to get really active.
here is a pic of some snow still in the woods where i went today also lots of ice in the ledges yet.Imagepicture sharecertificity.com

4/25/2017 went back into the same pond again for more punishment but got a surprise not much snow left. started fishing at 7:10 am with bobbers and dillies on both rods. 7:35 am ist bobber down started my retreive and line was hung up on bottom lost a decent brookie. 7:40 am same rod bobber down and fish on i land a nice 12 inch brookie. took it off and looked and my other bobber no where in sight started retreive and fish i land a 11 inch brookie. the next 3 hours i had bobber down steady and landed 14 nice brookies and missed maybe 4 or 5 more. brookies were very aggressive with the dillies . temperature was 29 degrees as i left my car. fished in the pond in a different spot this morning little deeper water 15 feet. smallest brookie of the morning was 9 inches kept my limit of 5 . will post the pic. a cool day in the morning but fish were active. :DImageimage hosting no registrationcertificity.com

Nice Brookies fishy. I love the pic.
I have fond memories growing up fishing for brook trout with my dad. I have a collection of old woven wicker creels. We would put ferns in the bottom and put the trout through the hole in the top. Spring Brook trout have a smell to them that brings me back in time. Each spring i digging some worms and taking one of my old fishing rod's and creel and go for Brookies like i did 45 years ago.

4/26/2017 hit another pond today in the rain and 45 degrees/ found out a spot near a rock and under a big pine tree. my set up would be 2 bobbers again with a single hook on each tipped with a dillie. started fishing at 6:45 am and 7:05 am bobber down and fish on land a brook trout. 5 minutes later the other bobber went down and fish on and another nice brookie . this continued until 8:30 am and after that only 1 bobber down. left at 9:45 am . i landed 9 nice brookies from 9 inches to 11 inches and all were released to bite again. they seemed to bite best when the rain stopped and i would get muptiple hits at once. :o

Hit a pond in the Siamese Ponds Wilderness today with a friend. My friend hammered them on a Lake Clear Wabbler. I started out with the fly rod and didn't do as well, eventually changing over to spinning gear and landing 6. My friend lost count of how many he caught. All were in the 9 - 11 inch range. Fish were rising steadily--feeding on midges from what we could tell, though they didn't like my midge imitations. By the time we left around 3 pm we could see much more insect activity on the surface. Back swimmers and even a few mayflies.
