10/10/2017 had my old fishing freind wayne (black fly) join me for a hike 1.4 miles back in a trout pond. warm going in and wayne kept saying its longer than 1.4 miles. nope i said. got to the pond around 7:30 am and decided to fish the shallows as i didnt want wayne to go down along the ledge in the deeper water which is rough going. trout were acting surfacing and busting water but wernt cooperating for us. wayne landed a rainbow on a bobber rig and i also landed a rainbow on a bobber rig . that was it for 4 and half hours . i had 2 short bursts on the bottom set up . wayne saw some nice trout swim by him . it was warm and still . looked like the trout were feeding on bugs and little bait. most of the surfacing trout were in the deeper water.
here is wayne with his rainbow Image
wayne is standing on a huge boulder above meImage
my rainbow also badly hooked

Nice rainbow, though! Looks wild? do they stock those by helicopter, too?

Whew! It's been hard to find the time to do any real fishing. No matter what, I'm going to get out to the Adirondacks on Sunday. Last chance for a big Adirondack brookie!

10/12/2017 hit a high peaks pond today and 30 degrees when i arrived at 6;45 am and windy. got down to where i wanted to fish in 30 fow at 7 am. tossed out my jig with a crawler ist and fish on wow i land a skinny 14 inch female brookie. never seen a brookie this thin. threw it back out and before it hit bottom fish on i land a 8 inch brookie. from that point until i ran out of my 64 worms at 11:30 am was fish on. what a difference the cool air makes for those trout it activates them also had a great moon phase today. most of the morning i could only handle 1 rod as i landed over 30 brookies and 1 16 inch brown. i was down to 3 worms so i decided to toss my jig in the sandy 4 fow within 10 minutes it took off and i closed the bail and missed. put on my next to last worm tossed it back in the 4 fow and it hit bottom and it took off again this time fish on i land a 16 inch female brown. 1 more worm and a miss and it got the worm. heading home with 4 badly hooked brookies. all brookies were from 7 inches to 14 inches lots of 9 ,s and 10,s . all females to. i do have to mention i lost 5 sinkers and 4 jigs to the bottom those brookies like to drag the line in towards shore in the rocks and logs.
here is a pic of the 16 inch brown

What a great day you had Matt. Nice brookies. You'll need a lot more worms.

oct 13 2017 hit the roadside pond again in the same spot as thursday . started fishing at 7 am and both rods having runs but missing them so i decided to wait a little longer and it paid off. from 7 am to 10 am i land 15 nice brookies and miss many. now for the negative part of the morning from 10 am to noon not one run not even a nibble. i was amazed but i know how trout ponds can be. across the other side from me some were surfacing but none on my side. used 37 crawlers today though and lost 2 sinkers and 1 jig.
here is a pic of the only male brookie i caught today.ImageImage
here is what it looks like on the other side of the pond im fishing in the high peaks
the pic was taken from my car just above where im fishing and parked

muzzleloading started today. dont know about deer sign fishing right off the side of the road. a big buck was killed by a vehicle there last week. saw it lying next to the road.
