A day on the lake with Gerry

Post by Surprise »

John Fuller & I set up a day of fishing with my & our Friend Gerry (Gecha).

Image

We had arranged to pickup Gerry at Westport ramp. Today we had a strong northeast wind on our preferred fishing ground of the past week so after hitting it and saying Naa.. we headed out to search for other calmer water and some willing players..........all the haunts brought no bait no fish ........Jeeze.

It didn't stop the jokes and stories and then the lunch!!!

Gerry brought Schwartz's Smoked meat served on rye bread with mustard and peppers......Crap,...Kill me now after this last bite!!OK!

John Trying some of the Hot Peppers..see the tears ? Dam'n That Good!

You had better fish with them pal. So bait the hook and .........

Looks like you guys had fun. I hope the fishing picks up here. I'm heading out of Comverse tomorrow with a friend and his 2 boys. We should be able to at least hook up with some lakers So I can show them some action.

Looks good Gerry. It's nice to see you have a chance to get out before the ice takes over.

Nice report Randy... Glad to hear Gerry got some frostbite action in. I'll be hitting converse with DACommitted in an hour or so. Hope the bite hits today.

What a memorable day.
That was the latest I fished in December, and I could not have asked for a better program.

Aboard Surprise, there's never a boring moment. Who cares if the biting is slow, the action is inside the cabin.
Randy and John were great hosts.

Captain Randy patrolled many grounds in search of hungry critters
Image

We marked some nice baits, and got a few releases
Image

but the biting was more intense 4 feet above the water
Image

John multitasking; Take a bite, remove fog from window, check the rods, take another bite.....wipe the tears from the hot peppers....what an intense workout.
Image

Randy can also multitask: Steer the boat, chat and joke, watch the stove, chat and joke, keep the cabin warm, search for fishing critters, watch mates plates, chat and joke..... non stop focus on keeping the crew alert.....

Thanks Randy and John for such a fun day.
Wishing you the best holidays and a lot more days of opportunities to do what you enjoy best... having a great time with friends.

Our Good Friend Gerry's Treat

I am going to try some in the smoker. My friend Jay uses this recipe and uses regular kosher salt omitting the nitrates in curing salt.
