I was hopeing to get a few more weeks on the ice, but the warmth today definitely made me want to hop in the boat! Can’t wait to get out there and hear the scream of the drag!

Just got the word from Fathead... Not good... Last night at 430pm still very much locked up with thick ice out at least 20 yards.... The pic he sent was so depressing, I dont even want to post it.

Hit converse at 6 with Fathead and DA on Phantom..... Skim ice was the ticket for the morning. Spent the better part of 2 hrs driving around tryin to break up ice to fish. Skim ice out to picket, then big chunks in the main channel with more skim ice in whalons...new broke more ice today than I care to say...

Good news we kicked the skunk out of the boat around 9:30 with a clean 17" silver... My 1st salmon of Feb 2017. planer boards and sticks were the ticket and we only had to break a 1/4 mile of ice on the way in!!!

Fish on!

Planer boards in skim ice! Nice, must have been a challenge out there.
