Just curious how many of you upload sonar logs or do sonar charts live? If so what method and plotter or devices are you using?http://www.navionics.com/sites/default/ ... nes_in.png

Lets say you want to get to a spot on the other side of the lake, but there are islands in the way , you can create a route to follow to get there and back.
How to create a Route on Navionics Mobile App. These screenshots where from and I pad, you will notice that there is an Automatic Route feature on IOS not found on Android yet. Automatic will reroute you around depths less than what you have the keel offset set to. I would rec. Manual Route for Ice Fishing.
From the Help Tab found in the App.
ROUTE
Tapping on the Route tab allows you to add an unlimited number of waypoints on the map and thus create a Route; tap on the map where you wish to add a waypoint. Click the "Remove last" button, which appears when waypoints are being added, to delete your last waypoint. When you have finished creating the Route, click on the tab again to save or delete it. To add/remove waypoints tap on the Route button again. You can record and save unlimited Routes. You will find the list of all your saved Routes in the Archive. Routes are numbered in sequence, and can easily be renamed.
Image
Tap Manuel Route.
Note the Automatic Route that was mentioned in the description above.
Image
Follow the screen prompt to start
Image
Tap and Hold Screen to add points
The last point on route will be shown. You can also add route point by holding down on the leg. A Route point can be moved by holding down on it and dragging it.
Image
Click Go
Image
The active leg will be highlighted in BOLD with the distance and heading shown in the top left box
Image
Click on Stop to stop it
Image
Tap on the Route Tab while the route is open and here you can Stop, Do a Reverse route back, Edit and Archives
Image
You can find Archived Routes by tapping here

Route Archive where you can find stored routes

Community edits are user generated info on various items on the mobile app. You may see variuos icons on your app if you click on them you may see some notes on a spot. If you creat a Commuity Edit spot it will be viewable to all. So be careful if you want to save a marker/waypoint that you want kept private dont creat a Community Edit.

The long description from the Help menu in the app-
COMMUNITY EDITS
By turning the Community Edits ON you can add, edit and delete chart objects. You need to register with Navionics to contribute to the Community Edits; this will allow you also to report any abuse you come across. This procedure has been introduced to protect users against misuses of the Community Edits feature. You do not need to access your account just to view other users' contributions. To edit your map, follow these simple steps:
1) Use the cross hair to target the spot where you wish to add an object and tap on "?"/the center of the cross hair;
2) Select "Add Object" in the page that opens;
3) Choose the appropriate major category and subcategory your object falls in from the available options;
4) Fill in the fields;
5) A check box is offered where you can choose to add your object on your GPS position, or on the spot you tapped, and then tap "Add".
To edit, move or delete an object, follow these simple steps:
1) ) Use the cross hair to target the spot where you wish to add an object and tap on "?"/the center of the cross hair;
2) Select it from the list;
3) Choose "Edit" to change information regarding an object, "Delete" to delete an object, and "Move" to relocate an object directly on the chart using the provided tools, and "Report Abuse" to signal a misuse of the Community Edits feature. When you report an abuse related to a user's contribution, our staff will review your report and take appropriate action if necessary. A Scoreboard ranking the most active contributors is also available. You can also rate and review other users? contributions.
Under a connection your additions, changes or deletions to the Community Edits are automatically stored in the Navionics server and shared with the community. In absence of a connection, your additions, changes and deletions to the Community Edits are saved on your device and are shared as soon as a connection is available.

Navionics+ will now substitute Gold and HotMaps Premium cards, which are discontinued as of January 1, 2016. This is great news as Navionics+ offers boaters a better solution and an amazing value since it contains detailed marine and lakes content together in one product that is extremely affordable. And there's also the remarkable option of getting it at half price with Navionics Updates

I use both. When on my boat, I prefer to use my Lowrance HDS to track my location. When fishing on another boat, I always ask permission first, and use my iPad for location and to keep trace of where we went.

I use an iPad mini-2. Perfect size screen and you can't get a better Gps setup for under $400

Sonar gets run full screen, no split screen needed with this setup.
