Raymarine Axiom Software Update:
New LightHouse 3.2 Offers Additional Enhancements

Image
WILSONVILLE, OR (September 21, 2017) - One of the best ways to get the most out of any marine electronics is to update software when it becomes available. Make this a habit and you?re sure to stay on the cutting edge?all without any additional investment.

For boaters and anglers using Raymarine Axiom units, the new LightHouse 3.2 operating software update provides numerous enhancements and an even more intuitive, seamless, and fluid user experience.

Installing the new update is simple via wireless network or PC. For updating via wireless network, simply connect your Axiom to your home Wi-Fi or your phone?s mobile hotspot. Yes, you can actually update your Axiom software while you?re on the water! You can also download Lighthouse 3.2 via Raymarine?s website here. http://www.raymarine.com/view/?id=15032387737
Image

Lighthouse 3.2 enhancements include:
Navionics Dock-to-Dock Autorouting, SonarChart Live, and advanced charting options
C-MAP Chart support including Easy Routing, Active Captain, high-resolution bathymetry and sport fishing data
1-touch ?Autoroute to Here? navigation with both C-MAP and Navionics charts
Wireless HD Display streaming to external monitors and HDTVs using Miracast HDMI over Wi-Fi
Remote control of both Fusion and Rockford Fosgate entertainment system using NMEA2000
Expanded waypoint viewing options, color palettes, and transducer calibration options in RealVision 3D sonar
Expanded support for upgrades of attached network devices and accessories

Image

LightHouse 3.2 includes all features added in version 3.196, including:

3D Sonar GPS Track Mode: This is the new default operating mode for RealVision 3D. The 3D image responds in real-time to inputs from its internal gyro-stabilization, plus the GPS system. When you turn, you?ll see the 3D image turn as well. When you speed up, it matches your speed. When you stop, it stops. As you make multiple passes around the same area the 3D image continuously updates and gets larger. Adjacent passes are stitched together into a comprehensive view of the bottom, structure and water column. Fish and bait that were in one location on pass one and shown in their new location in pass two, three, four, etc. Depending on the depth where you are fishing, the system can display 10 minutes (or more) of prior history. Deeper water gives you more time.

Sonar Scroll Back: You can now pause and rewind any sonar channel on the system. If you?re looking at more than one sonar channel simultaneously, pausing one pauses them all and when rewound, they all rewind together. This lets you go back and take a second look, add waypoints, etc.

Historical Sonar Sensitivity: If you adjust any of the sonar sensitivity settings (gain, filtering, etc.), it not only applies to new data coming in, but also to all of that prior scroll-back history, too. For example, you might increase or decrease the surface filter or gain and suddenly see fish in your past history that were previously concealed.

3D Waypoint Placement: You can now touch anywhere on the 3D display and drop a waypoint. There is a mechanism there, too, that allows you to fine-tune that waypoint to get it right on the desired spot.

Wi-Fi connectivity to RayRemote and RayControl Apps for Apple and Android Devices

New SideVision and DownVision Default Settings: Raymarine sonar engineers have re-adjusted the default levels for target intensity and gain on SideVision and DownVision channels. These new settings offer increased clarity and definition without additional user adjustment.

Yes!

If you are using a Navionics Marine Gold, HotMaps Premium, Marine & Lakes USA, or Land and Sea Gold:
You can upgrade to Navionics+ online through our Chart Installer or by purchasing a Navionics Updates card*. You may be prompted to purchase a new Navionics Updates card if your current card was produced before the Freshest Data program began. This card can be purchased through our online store or your local dealer. Pricing of the upgrade varies depending on the coverage area selected for your new download. Simply install the Chart Installer and plug in your card when prompted to find pricing information for your region. The Navionics Updates card pricing will also vary upon the region purchased.

For Navionics+, Platinum+ or HotMaps Platinum:
You can update online at 50% off the list price of the chart for another year of Freshest Data updates. Plug your card into your computer to launch the Chart Installer and follow the prompts to renew your subscription and update your chart. Navionics+ chart owners may find a slight difference in pricing if selecting a different chart region. Platinum products produced before June 2010, are not eligible for Freshest Data updates and will require a new chart purchase through your local dealer.

Platinum+ update (procedure not available for North and South America)
If you update your Platinum+ online through our Chart Installer you will update only the 2D charts.
To update also 3D charts you need to go to the nearest local dealer, give back your old Platinum+ and ask for a new one that will be given you at half of its original price.

For Plotter Bundle cards (cards pre-packaged with select GPS plotters/sounders):
You can upgrade to Navionics+ online through our Chart Installer or by purchasing a Navionics Updates card through our online store or your local dealer.

For Navionics' competitor cards:
Don't have a Navionics card but have a card from one of our competitors? The Chart Installer now allows certain competitor cards to activate Navionics Updates cards purchased through our online store or your local dealer. Below is a list of accepted competitor cards.

Garmin Bluechart
Garmin Bluechart G2
Garmin Vision
Garmin LakeVu and LakeVu Ultra Cards on SD/MSD
TrakMaps marine & Lakes cards for Garmin and Lowrance
Lowrance Insight cards
Lowrance Insight HD cards
Lowrance NauticPath on MMC
Lakemaster cards for Lowrance
Fishing Hot Spots cards
CMAP MAX-N & MAX-N+, MAX-N Bathy, on SD/MSD
CMAP NT+ and NT on SD/MSD
CMAP 4D on SD/MSD
CMAP MAX-N BDS and Essential on SD/MSD
Magellan BlueNAV XL3

Your competitor?s card will not be harmed in any way, but will be recognized by Navionics going forward so that it cannot be used to activate another Navionics Updates card.

Check plotter compatibility before purchasing.
* The Navionics Updates card is not compatible with Platinum, Platinum+ or HotMaps Platinum products.

HOW SONARCHART? IS GENERATED
SonarChart? is produced starting from the Nautical Chart and other regional or local sources offering additional data, as well as Navionics surveys. We then validate and integrate sonar logs recorded by end users and contributed from both plotter and mobile devices, adjusting for tide correction and filtering out ?bad? data. A new SonarChart is published with updated contours on a daily basis.

PROCESSING TIME
Navionics generates a new SonarChart every day. After a user submits sonar logs for processing, the updated SonarChart will normally be available after about one week, with some exceptions. For example, processing may take from three up to eight weeks when sonar logs are submitted for an uncharted area, because a coastline correction is typically required and Navionics will first source new coastline information for the area.

POSSIBLE CAUSES OF REJECTION
It is technically not possible to process sonar logs if one of the following problems exist:

    Latitude and Longitude is missing.
Depth data missing, incorrect or inconsistent with pre-existing data.
Missing time stamp. Since July 2014, a software update for Humminbird ONIX and ION units removed the time stamp information on the logs recorded in the Humminbird native DAT format. To avoid this issue, we recommend saving the logs in GPX format.
Sonar logs were recorded in a proprietary format not yet supported by the SonarChart? process.
Sonar logs were recorded in an area where sonar logging is restricted at sea like Sweden, Norway and Finland (see coverage).

In each case listed above, the sonar logs will be stored in the event that they can be used in the future and, if so, you will be notified.

For best sonar log recording, we suggest you keep your speed under 6 knots, although maximum logging speed may vary depending on which device you are using; perform a grid pattern where the distance between tracks is no more than 50 meters /150 feet; and save about every 30 minutes to reduce any risk of loss.

NOTIFICATION
When you upload your sonar logs through a PC, you will receive a one-time email with a link to where the processing status of the sonar logs is reported and have the possibility to see them on our map. In the event your sonar logs have been automatically uploaded through SonarChart Live, you will also receive this email provided that, when connected to your wireless sounder, you are logged in and the Sonar Logs Notification is set to On (Menu>Settings).

VIEWING AND COVERAGE
SonarChart is available for every customer to download to their Navionics+, Platinum+, and HotMaps Platinum plotter cards through our Freshest Data service, included free for one year with any of our plotter cards. Freshest Data and is renewable after one year. On mobile, with an active Navionics+ subscription, enjoy the new SonarChart just by tapping Menu>Update All and selecting SonarChart using the carto selector icon. SonarChart can also be viewed online using the Navionics WebApp. SonarChart coverage is available for the same regions as Platinum+ and HotMaps Platinum. We are continuously expanding coverage, so even if your area is not yet covered, recording and submitting sonar logs ensures that your favorite places will be included when coverage becomes available, so check back often.

With many people contributing a little, even with a single sonar log, the Navionics Community benefits a lot.

There are several features within your Boating app that requires an active internet (Cellular or WiFi) connection.

Chart downloads and updates (GOVT charts, Navionics Nautical Chart & SonarChart?)
Sync My Data (to connect to your account on our server)
Upload sonar logs (with Raymarine Plotter Sync)
    Map overlay (Satellite & Terrain)
Weather data (excluding Tide & Current data, which is part of downloaded charts)
    Downloading Magazines & Guides
    Social sharing (Facebook/Twitter/Email)

When offline (no WiFi or Cellular coverage) you will be able to access:

Previously downloaded chart detail (GOVT, Navionics Nautical Chart & SonarChart)
GPS position (if your device has an independent GPS receiver - See Mobile: GPS Technology)
Save Tracks, Markers, Routes, Photos and Videos
SonarChart Live (with requires Vexilar T-Box, SonarServer by Digital Yacht, GoFree WiFi unit or a Raymarine Dragonfly 4, 5 or 7 PRO or Wi-Fish units

If you are using a Lowrance Gen3 HDS GPS/Sonar then you are capable of recording sonar in the Lowrance default formats which are SLG and SL2. By order of Navico, Navionics is restricted from processing those formats for use within SonarChart?. Connecting your mobile device via GoFree WiFi (or Digital Yacht SonarServer) is the best way to contribute sonar data to SonarChart as well as take advantage of SonarChart Live, a real-time contour creation tool within Navionics Boating aps.
http://www.navionics.com/en/sonarchart-live

To begin viewing SonarChart Live on your mobile device using HDS Gen3 GoFree Wireless connection you will need:
Navionics Boating application (from version 7.5.1 for iPhone and iPad, and 4.4 for Android)
GPS/Sonar combo chartplotter with NMEA 0183 output
Open your mobile device settings and select GoFree Wifi, then open the App.

If that doesn?t work, first, be sure you have the password. This is the Network key found in SETTINGS > WIRELESS on the Unit.
Image

Tap on WIRELESS DEVICES

Image

You will now see the NETWORK KEY. This is the password to your GoFree.

If you do not see the GoFree in your Wifi list on the mobile device, there is another preliminary step.
Chances are you either do not have a Lowrance HDS Gen3, or you have one set to CLIENT MODE. This means capable of connecting to a hotspot / internet.
You need to change to ACCESS POINT MODE (this is the factory default).

Go back to WIRELESS inside the SETTINGS menu.
Again choose WIRELESS DEVICES.

Image

Change the mode to INTERNAL ACCESS POINT MODE

Image

Tap Yes
Image

Now you will see the below, where the unit is set to internal wireless. Now go back to the above steps and get the NETWORK KEY you need for a password and you should see the name below ?HDS GEN3? etc. in your WiFi list on the mobile device

Image

If you do not see a SonarChart Live snake begin to draw with the depth window visible, you might wan to check to verify that your plotter is outputing the right data through GoFree. To do this:

Access the system Menu found on the bottom Left side
Image

Next, Press "NETWORK" --> "NMEA 0183" --> "SERIAL OUTPUT" Should be set to ON.

Image

Next, press "SERIAL OUTPUT SENTENCES"
Within this Tree, press "GPS" and be sure "ZDA" is checked.

Image

Press "SONAR" and be sure the "DPT", "DBT", and "MTW" are checked.

Image

Now your plotter is ready to output the correct data and your GoFree should be broadcasting the data needed for your mobile application to use.

How to create SonarChart? Live
Close any apps that may have used the compatible device?s Wi-Fi. Connect your mobile to the Wi-Fi of the device, then open the Navionics Boating app. A new map is created instantly on-screen as you move across the water. Adjust color and transparency with Menu>Map Options>SonarChart Live Settings. In case your logs don?t appear on the process status page, close the app and reopen it.

James, with the Gen-3 & Carbon you don't need the NK0183 set-up witha Gofree app.
Just connect you're Ipad or smartphone to the Gen-3 by wifi and open you're Navionics App and activate sonarchart live and the app will start recording you're logs and with the Gen-3 and Carbon with the latest software update you go on: on the active map touch Menu-Overlay-SCL so you will start creating a map or improving an existing map. But be aware to be able to do this you need a card with a active subscription and a app that is also active.

Once you're smartphone or tablet establish a wifi connection it's done automatically by just connecting you're unit on wifi.
