Lowrance Autopilot Issue

Post by ThreeBuoys »

Put my boat in the water on Saturday for a shakedown tour. Thought about fishing, but didn't really have time. Just tested things out. Low and behold, the Autopilot didn't seem right....wouldn't stay on course. Decided to go back to the dock/Lift and try to re-commission the autopilot. No matter what I tried it would not commission the stupid thing.
I have now called Navico about 6 times. Finally I have an RA to return the NAC-1 for either repair or replace.
The only good thing is the unit has a 2 year warranty and I installed it last year.
Not a good start to the year.
It will be harder to set those lines until I get it back!

Did you sent the Nac-1?
You are using a Touch-3 or 2?
Is it after an update?
Under Network-Device list do you see the Nac-1?

I have not sent the NAC-1 back yet. but I will tomorrow.
I followed the document that they have to reset the AP.
This includes all the data sources etc.
I did not update the HDS unit since last year and it was all working when I put the boat away in November.
We will try the NAC-1 1st, but I assume it could be the pump-1 as well.
Either way, it will be down for a few weeks.

Believe it or not, Navionics has still not sent me a working NAC-1.
They claim the units are on backorder (made in Mexico).
So, they need to fill orders before they can take care of an existing loyal Lowrance customer!
Just a warning for those of you who are considering this unit.
Support after the fact is ....not so much!

Mine worked great for the 1st season.
Hard to be without it once you have it.
I blame losing a pretty good Salmon this weekend on that

Update:
Called to check the status of thnot so much.e replacement NAC-1
After being told May 26th and then June 6th.......now I'm being told June 26th....if then.
All I am saying is think long and hard about this product before purchasing.
I loved it when it worked, but support if and when you have issues.........

Well, after almost exactly 2 months of waiting I received notice that Navico (Lowrance) has shipped my replacement NAC-1 computer for my Autopilot. Problem is I could not be without it for that long and I purchased a new NAC-1 already. Like I have already stated in previous posts, Lowrance products are pretty good but there support S^&KS!

The new one is running flawlessly. I still had a slight issue commissioning the new one, but I read somewhere that I should recalibrate my touchscreen and that took care of the issue. I am now wondering if that was the issue all along. Of course Lowrance support didn't have me try that.

I now have a spare NAC-1 computer. If someone needs one or is having issues with theirs, let me know.
