upgrading to a bigger boat.

Post by OUTCAST »

So I've decided to go bigger and heavier this year. Gonna go with a 23' Ciera hartop. My question is how do I go about mounting a kicker motor to a fiberglass transom. I'm assuming I have to have someone reinforce it so I can put a mount and the kicker on it. Any info would be appreciated.

You should be able to through-bolt the bracket through the transom, and use aluminum backer plates on the inside of the transom. You'll want to seal the bolts from the outside with 4200.

I'd recommend the sturdiest bracket you can find so that you can mount a heavy 4 stroke on it. A fixed model will perform the best, just make sure the kicker lower unit can be raised/tilted out of the water when on plane. No worries trailering with a fixed bracket.

Thanks for the reply. Any suggestions on a fixed mount for the kicker?
