Corn is used to chum winter flounder and the hook has a plastic fake corn peace on it.

What I was told to do was anchor up at night with a lantern hung from the bow and fish a few kernels of corn on your hook near bottom in 40' of water. No one ever admitted to chuming, but that was the general understanding of what was going on. This was back in the 90's.

When I was a kid I saw others chumming and fishing with corn at Bald Hill. We would use worms and fish beside them. They seemed to catch just as many as wee would

Problem with corn is smaller fish can not pass it thru and they do not digest it. I don't no if it is even legal to use?

Used to fish for Kokanees in Conn. using shoepeg corn or corn/worm combo under a lantern or light on styrofam floating on the
top. All kinds of bait fish attracted to the light and taken by perch, bass.etc. We fished below the bait, relying on fish finder readings.
Caught many salmon and trout. Never was real keen on fishing this way. Had been told that fish couldn't digest the corn.

i caught brook trout in trout ponds where someone chummed with corn. the trout were all blown up. there bellys were big and hard. kept one and cleaned it and none were even starting to digest. i heard it kills them. dont really know but i also heard it is illegal in ny state to chum with corn. i always use worms i never really checked corn out. one guy told me to use quaker oats oatmeal says they like it and it does no harm to fish.
