It's a great idea, but our cat would be a mess after the first 5 minutes. He's 13 and still thinks the tree and everything he can reach is his to own.
It gives a subtle hint as to the direction any gifting should take.

Nice Tree and I thought this is what my wife meant about putting up the Christmas lights.....and that is how the fight started
