Post by Joe Mott »

i see on my boat were both my power cables are all dryrot from uv rays. then i see were it will cost close to a hundred bucks each to replace, i think im just going to run with reg lead cord wire and two blade 110 plug/receptacle ends. anyone ever do that?

That is how the plugs came on my 2 cannons on my Lund I used to have... The previous owner had made the change. He also used 110 wall outlets to plug into. Never had any problems on the setup at all.. Always worked perfect. Just make sure you get polarity right or up and down will be backwards...

Good luck

Mine did the same thing. I emailed Cannon customer service asking how to get replacements. They sent me a call tag to ship them back and they replaced them on the house. They were around ten years old at the time.

Mine failed also...Cannon would only cover the warranty if I sent my riggers. I wasn't gonna do without them so I did the repairs myself. I bought the new cables from fish307.com
This was probably 5 years or so ago.

Got them in from Cannon but these must have been for a newer model, but with wire cutters and a little adaption they are in. i need to find a caulking to seal around the wire and motor housing that isn't silicone, silicone has acetic acid and corrodes the electronics from the fumes as it drys. thats why i used cortex tape for sealing the cover also. Those are the new style cords. Make sure to use dielectric grease on the connections. Stops corrosion and are easier to detach.
