Opening day on Woodbury Lake

Post by Fishdawg »

Heard there was safe ice on the lake and knew they stock rainbows and browns there. We arrived early and were mostly set up at daylight. it started snowing as soon as we got there and stopped about 1 pm and about 5 inches of wet snow. The ice averaged about 5 inches thick. We had our tip ups set up in waters of 15 feet to 30 feet and we were getting flags regularly for most the time we were there. My brotherinlaw was able to get some nitecrawlers so we ran some pieces set up near shore early on, but only caught several perch at the same spot on worms. No trout to be had by us, but we ended the day with 11 pickerel and 13 pretty nice perch. a pretty nice day of warm temps and no wind with a sticky snow falling.
