Just a thought about Probe storage for the winter.
I can't imagine the O-rings and batteries are enjoying the sub-zero temps any more than we are. Who knows how they hold up. Why take a chance?
Happy New Year to all

Re: FISH HAWK PROBE
Mine is in my semi-heated garage with the batteries out. You made me think about the seal; a bit of lubrication won’t hurt
Re: FISH HAWK PROBE
Andre, vaseline is a good lubricant for the O rings..
electronics and riggers come off and are stored inside through winter...

Mike,
NEVER use vaseline on Orings as it attacks the rubber compound and makes them swell only use plumbers grease , teflon or silicone lube.
we deal with it all the time with orings on swimming pool equipment.

Theres been a lot of debate on this both pro and con, could be the compounds the ring is made from as to how it will react to the jel.
never had a problem with it harming the ring in my probes over the years.
don't want to steer anyone in the wrong direction here. being the least expensive part of the probe having some replacement rings ( at pennies apiece ) would be best...

From an orange label inserted into the battery probe cavity from Fish Hawk:
Useful tips to prolong the life of your Fish Hawk Probe:
*Loosen the cap at the end of each day to release condensation.
*Dry off the rubber probe bumper at the end of the day to prolong battery life.
*Apply light coating of silicone lubricant to O-Rings if dry. Don't over lubricate!
*Remove batteries for extended or end-of-season storage.

silicone lube is available at ACE Hardware in the plumbing section, comes in a small white plastic container, very handy to keep in the boat
Re: FISH HAWK PROBE
I use Burt's bees wax chap stick on the o-ring. Store indoors with caps off. And no batteries. If batteries develop a leak. That's gonna be an expensive clean up
Just my two cents

Mine still in glove box of boat outside... Ouch... Better go get that sucker... I usually fill it it's water and freeze it, that's way it doesn't rot.
There's an Oring? No wonder mine leaks:)
