I got word Converse was open yesterday. Does anyone know if that is still the case? Word of the street is there may be fish caught tomorrow if it's open....

I can tell you that’s not the case with the inland sea... when the ice fog lifted yesterday there was no open water to be seen anywhere. Looks like we’re done up here till April winds blow it out.

The NWS has a really cool satellite ice report on their recreational forecast page: http://www.weather.gov/btv/recreation

Still some open water if you can get to it, but most launches look locked in now.

Couple of duck hunters managed to break up some 2" thick ice at Converse yesterday (Dec. 31).
