My buddy just bought a Mini-Kota electric anchor winch, rated for 40 lbs. Looking for a 40-lb river
anchor, without having to pay a fortune on shipping. Would appreciate any suggestions on where
we can find such an anchor. A 30-pounder doesn't seem to do the job. Thanks for your help.

How big of a boat you anchoring I have an 18 foot freedom and we anchor it with no problem with 30 lb Navy anchor. What really helps is 4 or 5 feet of chain hooked to anchor and you have to have a lot of extra rope out to hold this is true no matter what size anchor you have.

I don't know anything about anchor winches, so take this for what it's worth. But if it's rated for 40 lbs, and you have a 40 lb anchor, plus chain as Capt. Paul noted, plus whatever length of rope you have out, you're exceeding 40 lbs.
