You guys are killing me. I have a 500.00 gift certificate from Bass Pro I received as a bonus from work. Been going back and forth on getting a Fishawk or upgrading and adding to the rods/reels I have as well as the other incidentals we need. Pretty much decided that I've made it this far without the Hawk and should go the other route.

Then this thread pops up.

Decisions, decisions....

To me it's an easy decision, you can buy a rod one at a time, or even use spinning gear in a pinch

That's fantastic Matt.
I bought my first Fish Hawk in 1987. Back then fishermen would only put them down for a short while to check speed and temp. I ran our all the time, about two trips per 9 v battery, my dad use to worry that we going to loose it wear it out. Until last year i still was using the original transducer and cables..... Thats 28 years!
This is the most important tool on my boat, i even have a spare probe just in case.

Reelax?? Are we not looking at an $800 to $900 investment here?? That might lead to a divorce when it shows up on my Visa??
Seems like a better deal is just to wait for you to mention that the water has set up @ 52 ft.??

The way to do it is to have the GF/Wife buy it for you....They want rings, and shinny things for gifts that cost just about as much as a fish hawk....

Plus if you get the fish hawk, and the divorce think of the fishing time you'll have WITH great gear

I think before my days are done,
I want to be a fisherman.

I bought my X4D for $450 slightly used... You can find deals if you watch for 'em...

I hear yea Dick on the cost of fishin My wife okayed $1800 for an autopilot last month then, was OK for a $100 bracket, $68 adapter, and a $350 Bluetooth remote for it the next week.. But she loves to fish, and that really helps!

I also treat her pretty well.. (DA's techniques work great)

Give and you will receive!

She got a nice ring, I got an X4D and the world is in perfect harmony!

I got my wife a Fish Hawk for mothers day. She thought it was great because it kept me on the lake longer.

WOW it is awesome... I did an autolearn with a 15mph head wind and 3 foot waves... Once I did that it seems to handle anything the wind throws at it... I did a full 360 deg turn in 20mph winds in 3.5 footers at trolling speed with lines out just to test it... Its amazing...

The blue tooth remote is good, but it is pricey and requires a $55 adapter cable they don't tell you about.. Once setup don't try to pair to a blue tooth speaker, the autopilot Bluetooth is so powerfull I have to pair speakers before turning on the autopilot.

It's neat to see all the boats on wicked tuna have an AP24 too, also cool to see that it can even auto pilot a sailboat... Nice unit.... Easy install...

I have to say in regards to fishing, this is the best $700 I could have spent.
Can't be without it now. I won't be bouncing cannonballs on that side of the boat though!
