This week there was a big fishing tournament "White Marlin Open' with 1st price over a million $$....
Always pleasant to cruise near those fishing vessels.
As we do in Champlain, they search for the bait fish, use their downriggers, outriggers, attractors and secret lures to attract and catch their preys.
Mostly searching for white marlin, blue marlin, sailfish, big eye tuna, blue fin tuna, yellow fin, mahi-mahi, wahoo.

Going 40-80 miles offshore, burning 200-400 gallons of fuel daily.... it's a bit out of my budget.

Wow, that's like the GDP of some small countries tied up there!

I've seen a few of those tournaments from the dock, and they'll just bring home heating oil tankers right to the dock so they don't have to pay road tax. It's a league of wealth I'll never know.

Thanks for the pics!

You may want to check this video of our friend Lance on the Longfin during the White Marlin Open 2015.
They caught 2 white marlins and a sailfish.
It's a bit more work than chasing salmons

Fished the bay after work from 5:30 to 7:30 pm.
Caught 6 spots, 5 sea robins, 1 balloon fish, 4 crabs. All released and having hamburgers for supper.

What a great summer to be at the Ocean.
Fishing in the bay is not so good, but lots of nice catches offshore.
Beginning of August we had the White Marlin Open, with 1st & second biggest catches winning $1million each for their white marlin.
Here's a pic of 2 non winning catches.. still very nice fish.

There were also some blue marlins caught during the tournament.
This one was over 550 lbs, they were already cutting some nice steaks when we arrived a bit late at the scale.

The offshore trip we planned didn't happen due to too much wind.
Will try again next weekend.... I need to put tuna in the freezer and specially on the BBQ soon.
