Any Suggestions on Where to Hunt Grouse in NW VT?

Post by Black Ghost (Ken) »

I only seem to flush grouse up at our camp in the Kingdom. Does anyone have any suggestions for NW Vermont? My dog birdy wants to know.

Thanks

Personally, I think NW VT is light on birds. If you can travel a bit further south (I live in Jerusalem, VT) birds are everywhere! Must have been a good spring b/c my springer Merle flushes birds on every walk. Usually see at least 2 birds just walking on our road! And that w/ out even entering the woods! Look into Lewis Creek WMA in Starksboro if you can make the drive (maybe 30 minutes from the big city)

Try Fairfield Swamp for sure..... or head up to Montgomergy way.

Lived on West Street in Fairfield for 5 years. Swamp side 15 acres and we had partridge everywhere (and hunters riding the road back & forth looking for them too). Chase around one very very large buck deep in that swamp for 3 seasons too.
Crazy birds would fly right into the windows on the house and break glass.
You could ask the Branon's for permission to hunt some of their lands up there.
Lots of old growth orchards between Burnor's and the Branon's.
