Matt, just a couple of small lakers. Sunny, no wind, the temp was 57° top to about 80'. This was the narrows down to Westport. More wind today won't help, salmon could be anywhere.
I did hear a couple people catching them on 68, so they're out there.

Re: Converse Launch ??
I launched there today and it was shallow but fine trimmed up. Maybe 18" of water at the low spots?

I mentioned this before but this is a great place to try the search button There's a ton of great archived data if you use the search function. A bunch of folks who don't show up here anymore for whatever reasons have contributed a whole lot of information if you're willing to look; just because a ...

I agree with Reelax, Walmart marine fluids are fine. Most lubes are manufactured by the same company and rebranded. My main engine is 37 years old and my Honda kicker is 34 years old. No issues with Walmart stuff over many years and hundreds of hours. There's a lot of fancy snake oil out there.

Re: Fishhook Flea infestation
I am wondering if the exponential increase in flea numbers equates to the rising levels of nutrients, fecal matter, and bacteria that the Lake is suffering? I have posed this question to James at LCI and waiting for his response. Anybody else with knowledge? I think they're just a new invasive and ...

Re: Fishhook Flea infestation
I'm jigging lakers until they're gone. Sunday was basically pulling lines one after the other, cutting the leader, sliding them off and re-tying. Not much opportunity to catch fish like that. The iced down livewell ("recovery room") makes laker releases a lot more successful if you're not ...

Ah, cool, the "HD" version used to be $50.Digitroll (Ron) wrote:Tablet and mobile app are the same price. $15 a year. Annual subscription.

Re: GPS tablet install (Samsung Galaxy 8")
I have an ipad and would like to install this as well. What exactly is involved? Just a bolt on mount and the Navionics app (no need for the tablet version of the app, the mobile one works fine). An enclosure or bimini top is basically necessary on sunny days so you can see the screen. Marine units...

Fry in Bouquet River
Pretty encouraging as it's only the third time in 150 years that biologists have found wild hatched salmon fry in the basin. Imagine what could be possible without dams (the Bouquet is a dam-free wilderness river). https://www.vpr.org/post/biologists-enthused-latest-discovery-atlantic-salmon-fry-lak...

Great post on jigging, thanks. It's something I want to try more of on slow days.

Great trip Matt and Ken. An epically long and hot day, but ultimately productive and the grill is awesome! Thanks for the ride!

Re: Fishhook Flea infestation
Spoke with a steward on Sunday, very friendly. Took all of two minutes. Joked back and forth about which lake was worse, Champ or Ontario. Good luck, Matt I worded that poorly; I take no issue with them, they're all very friendly, but if they could skip Champlain-only boats they'd have more time to...

Yes. This is what I tell the lake stewards every time I see them but with a sticker they could save their breath.C-Hawk wrote:Should be a special sticker for Champlain only boats

Re: Daily Bag and Size Limits
Just my $0.02 regarding C&R fishing from July-October: a well aerated live well and some ice go a long way to helping fish survive if they're brought up from down deep. It gives them a chance that releasing them in 70°+ surface water doesn't provide. They sell kits for coolers for like $35 if yo...
