Re: Reel for Slide Diver Lite Bite?

I have a Okuma Magda Pro 20DX as my slide diver reel. While the reel is OK, it works fine for the amount I use the slide diver.

Re: Fish are where they "shouldn't be"

Again, not in Vermont or New York, but I have caught a lot of togue this year on the Storm 360GT Searchbait. Trolled at 1.0-1.7 without any bling. As an aside, the lakes I fish are running 5-7 degrees colder than this time last year and the salmon and trout are still in the top 20 feet of the water ...

Re: What’s your Spread....

Not in Vermont or New York If fishing solo, I run one rod off a downrigger with a sliding cheater. The other is usually a segmented leadcore with an inline board. I adjust to what the fish are telling me. If another person is with me, I use 2 riggers and either 2 leadcores or one slide diver. Again,...

Re: Slide diver lite bite

As I said a ton of great information. I posted this back in August 2017.

Borrowed a friend's Fishhawk this past weekend. I have no idea how that effects the dive rate.

As a test, I trolled at 2.0 #3 setting and 50 pound braid. Averaged a 2.7:1 dive rate

Re: Slide diver lite bite

Now that you say that Keith, I was trolling cross wind and it was the downwind rod. I had picked up a fish on that hump and was making another pass in the opposite direction.

Re: Slide diver lite bite

You have to be right. I don’t think of current in relatively small lakes and along straight stretches of shorelines. As a said the learning curve is fun.

Re: Slide diver lite bite

It would surprise me as it is a smaller lake, about 1000 acres.

Re: Slide diver lite bite

Great information in this thread. I consider myself pretty proficient about most techniques but the light bite is giving me fits. Just this weekend I bumped bottom in 34 feet of water with 60 feet of line out on a #3 setting. That is with 50 pound braid, 2.2 to 2.3 mph SOG, and trolling in as straig...

Fish Hawk TD

Thinking of pulling the trigger on a TD and have a couple of questions. Battery life: Website says a 20 year life expectancy. Is this correct? Usage: My main reason is to find temperate but I would also like to see depth when running a Lite Bite. Every video I have seen shows the unit clipped to the...

Re: Line and leaders

Take this for what it is worth. We did our maiden voyage this past weekend. Had to go 3 hours south to find open water but we did. I set up 2 rods with 8 pound Seguar fluorocarbon and 2 rods with 8 pound Sunline fluorocarbon, just to see. Saturday afternoon we boated 19 fish, with the Seaguar being ...

Re: Line and leaders

15 pound Big Game, micro swivel, 6 to 8 feet of Seaguar fluorocarbon leader. I do not like braid for most trolling situations.
