Re: Brook Trout Smackdown

Yeah it was a blast, we had to work to find them and had to keep our rigs super light and casts easy. Too many casts in one area and they'd move away. These heavy shouldered brookies fight like bulldogs. I might have to take a day out of my 14 day bowhunting vacation to chase some with even better f...

Brook Trout Smackdown

Got into some bruiser brookies today. Don't worry, I released them into a pan 8-) https://scontent-lga1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xtp1/t31.0-8/11705523_10203748485512092_3834370101185867903_o.jpg https://scontent-lga1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xta1/t31.0-8/11223774_10203748485472091_6502844755454147245_o....

Re: Crayfish?

I also just use a normal minnow trap. Whatever type of trap you use, let it sit outside and get rusty and you'll get more bait, crawfish and minnows.

Re: Crayfish?

I trap crawfish from a river next to my house. Can of cat food with a couple holes punched in the top and bottom works well, put it in a rocky area. They're more active at night, at least where I trap them. Keep the bait sized ones, throw the smaller ones back to grow.

Re: Spoons Gone!

I left a perfect condition Fin-bore auger at the Lake Seymour launch two years ago. This was one of the old good folding ones with the off-set handle, light blue powder coat on the bit. Best auger I've ever had.

Re: Good morning trip

We all had a good time hanging out and catching fish. At least with all the perch we dragged around we really got to tune in the releases, and I got to try out my new self-named "all-purpose big water combo"- a 8'6" riversider rod with a Daiwa spinning reel. Handled two fish at once f...

Good morning trip

Headed out with my dad and girlfriend off the Cowbanks this morning, trolled all over from cedar west. Got a pile of yellow perch and some whites. Two salmon, one smallmouth bass. Most fish came on coppers, reds, and rainbows. I even caught a smallie and a perch at the same time on one rod, that was...

Re: caspian trip.

I ice fish Caspian for lakers and rainbows and can definitely vouch for the erratic bottom. I figure that you'll find good fish trolling if you stick to the deep water around the humps. Smelt are the main forage. Almost the entire shoreline to the left of the launch is sand for quite a ways out, mig...

Re: Out of town Laker

most of the lakers I get out of the NEK lakes are slimmer than Champlain fish, they have brighter colors too. Definitely taste better ;) Give and take on both sides I guess.
