Ben there on that too, with a 5 gallon bucket as fast as I could fill it, 3 miles out.

Re: Suggested Safety Upgrade for Frostbiting

I carry a spare pump also. Back before I rebuilt the transom, if the pump failed, I would've had to go in. Always carried a pump that I use for aeration in a cooler as my live well in the derbies. It could also be used to empty a boat quick. Still carry it for backup.

Re: Interesting story from Maine....

Maine has a couple of weird fish and game rules. One for example, is, you are required to kill every Northern Pike you catch. They say they are an invasive species to the state. From what I've read, you probably won't get into trouble for releasing one, but, they'd rather you killed them all. I mys...

Re: Interesting story from Maine....

This was a result of an overabundance of Lakers. No limit on fish 26 and under. While it is a terrible waste of food, it may not be that bad for salmon. Sebago is the original wild salmon lake and it would be a shame to see the destruction of that fishery. Are we headed in the same direction? At lea...

Re: Salmon fishery

Kind of funny. 2 or 3 years ago I lamented on the fact that it was awfully tough to catch salmon North of Burlington. I was told by many that I didn't look around enough. Try different places. Just a run of bad luck. Put more time in . Mix it up. Go South, ( wich for a while was an answer). Change y...

Re: Salmon fishery

It seems curious to me that one of the bright spots, though dim, seems to be the Inland sea. Mainly cookie cutters, but after the Keeler's thing is over, fish can still be found. St. Albans Bay, Sandbar, Georgia Shore and a few from the Cowbanks. Not at all like the old days, but maybe getting bette...

Re: Salmon fishery

I agree. Keep some Lakers, smoke them up, tell your guests it is salmon. Bring them home for your neighbors. Time to reduce numbers.

Re: How many got fishing gear for Christmas?????

I got a nice Okuma rod and reel combo as apparently Cabela's combos are out of stock. Also, got a wireless trailer back up camera. This will be great for when the boat is in the water as the trailer is hard to see in the mirror until it's too late. How do like yours Ron?

Re: Choice for releases?????????

I think the ability to really load the rod with the Chamberlain's, far outweigh any blow back issue, especially with a long set back. Also a soft set to the lure can even be dialed in to trip on a weed. Less hitchhikers.

Re: Down Rigger Rods

I swear by the Cabela's combos. Usually 70 or less. My stuff sits in the boat , sun and rain for 4 months at least. When one gets a little worn, put it in the cuddy for emergency. If I buy one a year, I'm keeping 8 to 10 active rods, and change my lures on shore. Usually break one or two a year. At ...
