Re: Spiny Water Fleas
Fished out of Westport this morning just out of the bay heading north. Spiny water fleas gooping up on cables and lines. Nasty. None at Split Rock area last Friday. So the things are at the Split now?

Re: Lowrance Chirp not reading depth
I have an elite 5 which gave me false readings from time to time. Sent it back but Lowrance claimed there was nothing wrong with it. Moved it up to bow for shallow water fishing and replaced it with raymarine which also had to be returned because maps were pixilated. Repaired quickly and no further ...

Re: Rude Yachters, Bad Luck, and Decent Fishing, Broad Lake 9/4
Rude boaters? Seem to run into a lot of them. Was launching in Willsboro a couple of weeks ago. I'm in the boat as my girlfriend backs us down the ramp, look back to see a guy, his wife and 2 kids pulling their dingy up to the dock behind me. 3 open docks and decides to pull in behind me. A very sho...

Re: Fishing this weekend
Jigging lakers? I also do not have the electric motor with GPS, so I resort to using a drift bag if too windy. Not the best solution, but can slow the boat's drift to allow vertical jigging at times. Just ordered a second to help. With that being said, heavy jigs, 1- 2 ounces work well. I use luhr J...

Re: Fish Hawk device
So I received a new transducer and console display from Fish Hawk, swapped out the display using the original probe. Worked perfectly. Spoke again to Trevor from Fish Hawk who graciously told me to use the Fish Hawk several more times before returning the extra probe and transducer just to make sure...

Re: Fish Hawk device
Trevor from Fish Hawk asked me to keep both probes with the idea the probe isn't the problem. He wants me to try the original probe with the new display and transducer. They have been more than cooperative, essentially sending me a whole new package. Right now its not a battery problem, they are new...

Fish Hawk device
Purchased the Fish Hawk wireless last week. First time out it worked perfectly. I was amazed at the difference between surface speed and downrigger weight speed. Two days later out again, I get no readings from the probe. Display shows surface temp. and speed, but nothing from the probe. Called Fish...

Re: LARGER SPOONS?
I meant to ask in my last post, what is the procedure for burping the fish?

Re: LARGER SPOONS?
For what it's worth, fishing lakers this past Wednesday 90-100 ft of water, each laker brought up burped itself near the surface as each time there would be bubbles popping the surface as the fish neared the surface. Only one fish showed any distress at all, the last of the day, a 15 and a half poun...

Re: Spoons Gone!
Back in July left the launch area of Middle and Lower Saranacs with a plastic bin holding smaller tackle boxes. Drove 5-6 miles to Saranac Lake when a lady(thank you maam)pulled next to me at a red light. You lost a box out of your boat. Drove back within 1/2 mile of the launch to spy it next to the...

Re: Fishing North of Cumberland Head (East of Middle Bay) 09
Thanks for the report, interesting to see bass so deep. Seems to break the rule of smallies and structure. While fishing Lake George years ago caught smallie after smallie 50 ft down in 100 ft of water. again no structure just open water chasing bait.

Re: LURE SPEED
On the use of snaps and swivels-I always used them for the convenience. Awhile back while bass fishing with a friend we both were using the same lure,a Dominator minnow(a small plastic minnow with great tail action). My partner was getting 3 or 4 times as many hits as I was. I watched how he worked ...

Re: jigging lakers
Water temp at surface was 70-72 degrees, no idea what it was on bottom. We worked off both the reef and a couple of humps, but nothing on graph or lures until we were in 80-100ft of water. Lure weight was ounce and a half, but when the wind began to pick up they were too light to stay on the bottom ...

jigging lakers
Got a call at 7:30 this am from a fishing partner to jig lakers. Headed out toward 4 Brothers, shut down and within a few minutes Vic was on a fish. Pulled in a decent laker in 80 ft of water. He hit 4 or 5 others losing each, I had one decent hit. Move north to Schuyler Reef, 100ft of water,dropped...

Re: Big Water
Thanks, haven't made it out in awhile but its one of my favorite areas. Knowing the depth range is a big help.
