Re: Inland Sea Trench 8/7 and 8/8
No luck out there today. One 10" salmon but mostly bass and perch. We couldn't keep the little buggers off our lines. Landed one fat 3.2lb smallie though. That was fun even if it was the wrong species.

I'm hoping we get into something bigger tomorrow. We'll see.ThreeBuoys wrote:We experienced the same result last time we were fishing the IS. (Two weeks ago).
We caught fish (Salmon) but all were in the 10,12,15 inch range.

Re: Smallies in deep water
I had that same experience last fall. We were pulling smallies up from depth around Cumberland head. Quite a few of them. Nice fish but not what we were after.

I fished Inland Sea Saturday from 11-2, marked a ton of fish down 50-60 ft over 90-100 fow. Was solo so 2 riggers with fixed cheaters. No hits no runs no errors. Tuff sleddin. Off to the Big - O this weekend. A new season begins! Riddler I was out there (IS) Thursday, Friday and Saturday last week....

We usually take the kids to the Basin Harbor Club. You can dock in the marina when there is space and walk up to the Red Mill. Food is great, there's a playground for the kids and it's fun to watch the planes come in and out. There is also Bistro Du Lac next to the westport marina. I've been meaning...

Hope you don't mind a junior angler in the mix. I'm planning on bringing my 6yo son with me. May have a couple friends coming as well. Excited for the event!

Re: Heating up for the Shootout!
WOW!!!! Great looking fish guys. My schedule won't permit me to be at the shootout unfortunately. We've been catching 15-18" fish pretty consistently the last few Mondays. I'm a n00b to trolling so I really wish I could get out there for the shootout and pick all of your brains. I hope everyone...

Re: launching suggesions?
I've been wondering that too. I gave up on point bay because the ramp is so uneven.
We had to pole our way out of converse yesterday.
I usually love having a boat with a keel.......not so much on the launch and retrieve yesterday.
At least the fishing was good.

Re: Lobster style hull as a troller?
I haven't tried yet but plan to find out very soon. I can tell you though that Easterns are seaworthy as hell though. My newer 18 has been staring at me from the trailer all damn morning
Seaway 19's and 21's are nice too. My neighbor had one for a while.

Re: Show Boat
Thanks! I usually head out from the Converse ramp. Hate crowds so I try to make it so I have Mondays and Tuesdays off all summer
