Re: Lamprey Pictures?
I know Randy got a picture of a big one on a Laker along the NY shore. We foul hooked the lamprey and it was attached to a two foot laker... that was on interesting pull. We picked up several small lampreys on salmon or it may have been on lakers in Whallon's bay the week before. They were all the 6...

I think the hatchery stuff starts around 18:00, maybe 40 minutes long.striper192001 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 04, 2024 7:28 am I don't have the patience to sit through this 2 hour video, can anyone tell me when they talk about the "rationale" of closing the hatchery ?

Re: odd-looking salmon
Interesting color. I've seen entire salmon that exact color, but they were in a big circular tank with a light blue liner. I occasionally see captive steelhead and rainbows that are bluish in raceways when every other fish is green/brown. It could be a skin infection of some kind that the fish is pr...

Re: Lewis Creek Steelhead
Estaz stone! Nice fly (and fall color.) Great fish! Fishfarmer, given your background can I ask a question?: This fish has a big head suggesting maturity, but why aren't we seeing lake run trout that are longer and heavier? Too few to sample? Not enough forage? Or are these fish spending more time ...

Lewis Creek Steelhead
I got some intel at the shootout about Lewis... Chilly morning, had a bump from one fish around 8:30, couldn't connect after many drifts through that pool. I moved to some faster water and connected with this active male around 17". A couple good jumps before coming to net. This one went home, ...

Re: Fun Salmon Facts
They put them in the Lamoille, they end up in Bulwagga...pretty depressing for those who live up north. :-) Thanks for the cool info. You get to catch them in the fall when they come back :D . I used to drive all the the way from Bridport to be the first guy to be fishing below Peterson Dam in late...

Re: 116 Million Walleyes in Lake Erie
Question - Off the top of your head does anyone know what the forage base is in Lake Erie? Thanks 🙏 Off the top of my head I believe it is smelt/alewives. I though I remember reading about Erie experiencing more die offs of alewives than the other Great Lakes due to more ice coverage in winter....s...

Nice pre spawn smallies!
I know where I'm going tomorrow....up the creek. I'm expecting movement if the water temps are good, there was a bump in the flow from the rain.

Re: Lakers during spawn? Salmon?
Early bird gets the worm. Spawning salmon as well as brown trout are usually more active early and late. You may see them hanging around redds during the day and catch them, but my experience it best in low light/overcast conditions. I've seen salmon boogie up a particular tributary right as the sun...

I noticed the swamps of East Slang looked a little low last weekend and the vegetation was taking over.
